May 1st, 2007:
Jody Newman the former UnifiedRoot Representative to Turkey denied
allegations of any wrong doing on
the part of the UnifiedRoot in a tax fraud investigation conducted by the
Dutch Public Prosecution Service (Openbaar
Ministerie) against Rene Rijntjes and Rob van de Voort. Both
Rijntjes and van de Voort were directors in
TMF Group the largest trust
company in the Netherlands. TMF provides management services to
UnifiedRoot.
"The investigation involves personal tax issues", said Newman who
emphasized that the UnifiedRoot is not involved. Newman went on to say
that Rijntjes and van de Voort left the UnifiedRoot. According to
Newman the other investors in the UnifiedRoot found out about the
investigation and asked them to leave, "and they did" he said.
Rijntjes and van de Voort also resigned their board seats as directors
of TMF this past month.
The investors left behind are Gerrit te Spenke and Andre Boekhoudt both
partners in KPMG Meijburg & Co.
Boekhoudt in a previous
interview this past March 2006 with Dutch journalist Peter Olsthoorn
made a number of false statements concerning the origins of the
UnifiedRoot. The UnifiedRoot was incorporated shortly after Joe
Baptista, the PublicRoot Representative, went
public with his investigation
of INAIC and UNIDT. Boekhoudt denied the UnifiedRoot was in
any way associated with these organizations. UNIDT sold it's TLD business
to UnifiedRoot in 2005.
Newman expects the UnifiedRoot will make a formal statement to either
the Top Level Domain Association (TLDA) or
Joe Baptista the PublicRoot Representative on the investigations against
Rijntjes and van de Voort. Eric Seeboldt CEO to the UnifiedRoot
was contacted today but had no comment to make on the incident. He
refused to confirm or deny any statements made by Newman to the PublicRoot
Consortium.
