German Pirates drive .Pirates Top-Level Domain into the Inclusive Name Space.

November 26, 2006:Today the German Pirate Party (Piraten Partei) Top-Level Domain (TLD) .PIRATES was recognized as a First Come First Served (FCFS) TLD by the PublicRoot Consortium. The TLD .PIRATES has no collissions with any other TLD in the inclusive namespace.

The Pirate Party is the fastest growing political party in the world. Started in Sweden, pirate parties have branched out to several countries, including Spain, Austria, Germany, USA, UK, Australia, France, Poland, Italy, Russia, Belgium, Netherlands, Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand, Serbia, Romania, Ireland and Peru.

The party strives to reform laws on intellectual property, including copyright, patent, the protection of design, and the right to privacy both on the Internet and in everyday life. Since it does not have an agenda on any other issues, the party claims it is not possible to place it anywhere on the left-right scale.

Pirate Party world wide, color coded black for official registered party, blue for unregistered but active, and red identifies regions being discussed on the Pirate Party International. Grey areas signify no party activity.

Peter Dambier, an administrator and founder of the PublicRoot Consortium and the Cesidian Root, is the technical manager of the new TLD. He and his wife Karen are members in the German Federal Pirate Party and founding members of the Provincial wing being organized in Hessen.

The TLD was first created in the Cesidian Root on October 14, 2006 and delegated under FCFS rules today. A TapRoot record for the TLD has been created and filed with the TapRoot and Compliance committees of the Top Level Domain Association (TLDA).

The .PIRATES TLD represents a historic milestone in the expansion and development of PublicRoot and Inclusive Name Space. This is the first time a political party has ownership of a TLD and the first TLD to be published in the TapRoot reports.
