UnifiedRoot drops contact information from whois service

The UnifiedRoot, an Inclusive Name Space Top-Level Domain (TLD) registry and root provider, no longer publishes contact data for whois searches. The UnifiedRoot whois search engine now returns the message "The contact information of this registrant is not displayed here for privacy reasons" instead of the TLD owners contact information. Users who need to contact the TLD owner are invited to send an email request for the information to the UnifiedRoot at contact@unifiedroot.com.

This change is now the second major modification to the whois service provided by UnifiedRoot. The first change was to drop all whois services for legacy TLDs from other Inclusive Name Space roots when the UnifiedRoot discovered back in August this year that the databases, purchased illegally from former INAIC employee Herman Xennt, contained fraudulent and misleading contact information.

Recent changes followed an audit by the PublicRoot. The audit uncovered a number of registrations violated the UnifiedRoots code of conduct. Under this code no UnifiedRoot associate may procure directly or indirectly more than 15 TLDs. The audit showed some 300 plus TLDs were purchased by an insider of a UnifiedRoot associate.

Erik Seeboldt the Managing Director of UnifiedRoot denied the organization violated its code of conduce. "UnifiedRoot has investigated whether an associate has more than 15 TLDs", said Mr. Seeboldt, "and our findings are that this is not the case".

Seeboldt went on to explain that the TLDs audited "were never accepted", by UnifiedRoot, "and with the migration to our new back office we could finally correct this situation together with other corrections". The TLDs are now available for registration. The PublicRoot has confirmed the TLDs were deleted.

The UnifiedRoot whois now provides a limited range of information. The registration expiry, and update dates are published along with the name servers. The changes prevent any further audits to ensure complience and may be a violation of minimum standards for the publishing of TLD contact data set by the Internet Engineering Task Force.
