The UnifiedRoot, an Inclusive
Name Space TLD registry and root provider, has been nominated to receive
the Banking & Finance ICT Innovation Awards. The awards are presented at
the Grand Gala, an event sponsored by
Banking & Finance, a leading
professional magazine for the Benelux financial sector.
The awards recognize innovative projects from the financial service
sectors in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. To be nominated for
the award a venture or project must meet a number of conditions. It must
be innovative, fully operational, socially relevant and the project must
add value to companies in the financial sector.
UnifiedRoots nomination for the ICT Innovation Awards establishes the
Inclusive Name Space as a solution and replacement to
ICANN. Several
banks have purchased TLDs through the UnifiedRoot including
ABN
AMRO Bank
in the Netherlands, Garanti Bank
in Turkey and Dollar
Bank in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Martijn Burger the Chairman of INAIC
another Inclusive Name Space root system disagrees with the nomination.
"I think the UnifiedRoot is not representative of the Inclusive Name
Space" said Burger. According to Burger the UnifiedRoot does not follow
Inclusive Name Space rules and only use their association as a means to
market their story.
"I would certainly advise an organisation like Banking & Finance to do
their due dilligence before a nomination of this kind is accepted"
he said. This year the Grand Gala will be held in Genval Belgium this
Friday evening November 17th, 2006 at the Chateau du Lac.
