The Public-Root acquires a controlling Interest in Planet
Communications & Computing Facility, Ltd.
The Public-Root today acquired a controlling interest in Planet
Communications & Computing Facility, Ltd. (PCCF). PCCF is a federally
incorporated Canadian infrastructure company that provides the Public-Root
with Internet Protocol numbers. These numbers support root server
operations for a.public-root.net.
In 1992, PCCF organized as an association at the University of Toronto in
Toronto Canada. PCCF operated as a private research facility supporting an
experimental network dedicated to the distribution of news, email and the
enhancement of communications between participating organizations. These
facilities supported communications between student news organizations and
reporters at various Universities and Colleges across Canada.
The association incorporated in 2003 as a Canadian federal corporation.
The corporations sole business is to provide Internet Protocol version 4
(IPv4) numbers to its subscribers.
